HI, SORRY I CAN'T SUPPLY THE SLIDE NUMBER BECAUSE I SENT MY QUESTION TO YOUR OFFICE INSTEAD OF PUTTING IT HERE. THE QUESTION IS SIMPLE AND STRAIGHT FOWARD. GAVIN'S PARTER OPENED 1NT AND GAVIN JUMPED TO 3H. GAVIN SAID THIS TELLS PARTNER THAT HE DOES NOT HAVE A STOPPER IN HEARTS BUT HAS A NT HAND. IF PARTNER HAS A STOPPER HE SHOULD BID 3NT. GAVIN HAD A SINGLETON HEART. MY QUESTION IS. THE JUMP TO THE 3 LEVEL, IS THAT ONLY MADE IF YOU HAVE A SINGLETON OR VOID? I SUSPECT THAT IF YOU HAVE 2+ LITTLE HEARTS YOU WOULD NOT JUMP TO 3H. Expert standard is to play 1NT - 3H shows 3 spades, 1 heart and 5/4 in the minors with a game force 1NT - 3S shows a singleton spade 3 hearts and 5/4 in the minors with a game force. The bid isnt just asking for a stopper. It is telling the whole shape of the hand.
