B4: It appears that NS make 5♣. Would you be worried about that playing a teams event? (At pairs I totally agree that getting positive scores is the key.)
You have 23 points and happen to fit perfectly. Its obviously a good game but I don't worry about these kinds of hands.
Board 4: My partner raised 1♥ to 2♥ instead of 1♥ to 1NT (both were close decisions as you pointed out). Question: 1♥-P-1N-X would be takeout correct? and then opponents find Spade fit which scores better than those playing 3♣.
Yes it is takeout. Sure double works amazing when partner has 5 spades (or when they have 10 points and 4 spades). When partner does not have a 5 card suit it is typically going to be worse. 2♣ is definitely the right bid in my opinion.
