Yes, I appreciate that it’s usually a jump but here with all the space being eaten up by the pre-empt and the jump to 4S, I think as E or W I would assume 5C was exclusion here without a specific agreement. W has 4NT available and passing over that seems to make the club void very likely. Perhaps I’m just not familiar enough with when you might prefer to make a slam try via a cue bid above 4NT rather than use key card.
Hi Gavin - on board 3, I thought 5C by W over East’s 4S would be exclusion KC but in your review it seemed that it was just a cue bid. Is this just a partnership agreement thing or is there a reason for this not being exclusion in this context ?
Unless there is a specific agreement to the contrary, exclusion blackwood is always a jump. And it's important to have two generic slam tries. One with a club control (5♣) and one without (5♠).
