On board 6, what should 2S (rather than 1S) over the negative double by North mean. The description on shark bridge said weak but surely if your bidding a suit RHO has shown 4 in, it ought to be a good 6 card suit and a reasonable hand ?
I see your points, but it's not worth changing a general partnership agreement because it makes a little less sense on one specific auction. 2♠ weak seems ok, just don't do it on a terrible suit when you know RHO has four.
On board 4, is there a case for using 2NT rather than 2D as it makes it more difficult for the opponents to uncover their heart fit? Might we have more chance to buy the contract in 3C if partner has clubs rather than spades over this ?
Yes that case has some merit, but I don't think it's worth forcing us to 3♠ when we have a spade fit, or no real fit like partner is 2-2.
On board 3, could South bod 3D over the second double to show the double fit (assuming Norths 1D showed 4)
That would be inviting game, which south is not strong enough to do.
Rule of 19; Add your HCpoints to the number of cards in your 2 longest suits. If it adds up to 19 and you have a SINGLETON, open.....
